Jackie Isard is a Fellow member of the Society of Botanical Artists and an RHS Gold medal winner, and a published author of a respected book on watercolour paint mixing techniques and theory. She is a self-taught artist with a great passion for painting flowering plants, meadow wildflowers and pollinators. Painting the beauty of decaying plants is also one of her fortes. Her work is very detailed and botanically accurate. The majority of her work is watercolour on paper. Jackie has paintings held in the RHS Lindley Library, The Shirley Sherwood Collection and The Hunt Institute. Jackie became an SBA DLDC tutor in 2024. She teaches at venues around the UK and South West. She also has a few online courses. She loves to teach and is a very attentive tutor who loves to inspire and encourage! She has taught us botany previously in Oxford, and her class was very popular! "Watercolour and drawing experience is needed Learn how to paint the delicacy of feathers, the hardness of stones and the fragility of bones (birds and small mammal skulls)! These are all very interesting subjects to explore. I will teach you the techniques to apply in the following media; graphite, watercolour and/or pen and ink with a watercolour wash. Painting the greys of stone, the beige and brown of feathers and pale bone shadow tones will give you very good practice in creating depth and form with such a neutral palette. Make a sheet of studies or concentrate on one subject, the choice is yours! Borrow from my large collection or bring along your own items".
