Service Description

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to study with Margaret Best in the UK! Margaret is originally from South Africa, now living in Canada, but teaching Internationally. Margaret has a background in teaching, and was also mentored by Pandora Sellars. Her work is collected by the Hunt institute for Botanical Documentation, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Library and the Florilegium collection of the Royal Botanical Gardens of Sydney, Australia as well as other private collections around the world. Margaret is a fellow of the Society of Botanical Art, and also an author of many excellent e-booklets on watercolour and coloured pencil techniques. This is a NEW course, taught only by Margaret! It is the use of coloured pencil AND watercolour - two more days learning how to integrate the two mediums using the best of both. Margaret has taught this workshop and has had some amazing results from experienced watercolourists who tried coloured pencil for the first time and fell in love with the process of combining both mediums. Margaret is offering two 2-day courses, which can be taken together or seperately: This booking is for a two day course which is ideal for the following types of artists: Experienced watercolour artists who are complete newcomers to coloured pencil or for those who have not tried it for years and know nothing about the fabulous newer colour pencil materials that give painterly results. The investment in materials for this class is minimal. Also great for intermediate artists that have gaps in their coloured pencil learning and want more painterly results and want to learn how to refine their techniques /learn about the best and latest materials. Experienced watercolour artists that are curious to discover more about the medium will be in a relaxed, non-competitive setting. Margaret will provide demonstrations of her techniques, discussion on the materials that she uses and why she prefers them, and guidance one to one as we put into practice what she is demonstrating. We are learning in a quiet, rural setting in a small group, with opportunity to make new friendships and learn new skills. Please contact for more information or flexible options for payment.
