Orchids are a fascinating subject matter that offer such a diverse range of shapes, sizes, colours and of course, choices due to being one of the largest genus of flowering plants. Simon Williams will be returning to give an in depth workshop on orchid painting. Preferably working from life, although for the purpose of Simon working on personal projects he may refer to his own photo reference to complete his orchid painting studies. The workshop will be taught in either watercolour or gouache depending on participants preference. Demonstrations will be given in both as each medium is water based and classed as a watercolour. The difference between transparent and opaque will be explored and which works well for the subject matter. Drawing, colour observations and the attention to detail and accuracy will be heavily focused on in this workshop. The course will not be suitable for beginners. If you have a good level and understanding of the fundamentals in botanical painting you should be able to attend this course.
